Injuries to the shoulders, knees, or other joints in a car accident can be severe and should always be proactively addressed by the best physician for the type of injury sustained.  With over 100 years of combined experience of handling car accident insurance claims, we are very familiar with the best doctors for a given injury.

Injuries to the shoulder are one of the most common injuries sustained in serious car or truck accidents.  These injuries can vary from muscle and ligament strains to the supporting structures of the shoulder (“the shoulder girdle”), to rotator cuff tears of different varieties and severity.  Making sure that a shoulder injury is properly addressed by the best physician for the particular type of injury is very important from both a medical standpoint and to insure a fair settlement with the insurance company. We can help provide you with the guidance necessary to make sure that your injury is properly addressed and adequately documented.

Knee injuries are frequently sustained in car accidents.  There are various mechanisms of injury, which can result in different damage to the knee. It is not uncommon for knees to hit the dashboard in a motor vehicle crash, causing bruising on the underside of the kneecap.  While this often heals over several weeks, the healing is sometimes improper, resulting in a medical condition called chondromalacia or “dashboard knee.”

The unusual thing about dashboard knee is that it often does not seem initially to be a severe injury.  It is only after a month of two—when the knee fails to heal properly—that the pain increases, accompanied by a grinding or clicking sensation when moving the knee. As such, proper documentation early in the process is important to avoid a disclaimer of responsibility by the insurance company.

Insurance companies are infamous for disputing the causal relationship between a knee injury and car accident trauma, especially when the injury worsens some weeks after the accident.  Oftentimes the injury was not even reported initially because other injuries seemed worse than the knee at the time.

If you are involved in a significant motor vehicle accident, please call us early to avoid such difficulties.  We will ensure that you have the proper medical care and that the injuries are properly documented to put you in the best position for a fair and adequate personal injury settlement.
